There is no shortage of mobile device options today as end users choose between Windows and Android.
When it comes to mobile device selection, the line between rugged, purpose-built devices and consumer mobile devices is blurring. Instead of a stark choice between these two device categories, there is a now a continuum of more- or less-rugged devices to choose from, in multiple form factors.
“The majority of the market has determined that non-line-of-business applications do not require the expense, bulkiness, and unnecessary functionality most ultra-rugged tablets include,” says Matt Miller, president of Mobile Demand. “They want choices, and the adoption of the nonrugged mobile devices demonstrates this. The market has spoken in a natural progression; it needs a wide array of options for mobile devices: phones, tablets, handhelds, and notebooks.”
