We hosted a webinar recently with enterprise communication platform provider Zinc and their customer BioTek Instruments to talk about the importance of effective and easy mobile communication. BioTek shared their firsthand experience on the impact that mastering mobile communications can have on field service. During the webinar, the questions below were addressed – here we share some valuable insight on mobile communications and BioTek’s transformation.

What exactly is an enterprise communication platform, and what value does it provide over using typical communication methods like calls, texting, and email?

As an enterprise communication platform, Zinc combines all those typical communication methods that people use both in and out of the office, and then some – calling, texting, email, audio and video messages, etc. – so that employees have all the communication tools they need, all in one place. The real value isn’t necessarily the communication tools themselves, but how Zinc centralizes those tools onto mobile devices and helps mobile enterprise workers use them. Field service technicians aren’t spending their days sitting behind a desk. They’re out of the office and away from their computers, so fumbling between different apps and contact lists on their cell phone complicates the task, consumes more time than it’s worth, and can ultimately lead to trouble at the customer site. Having one platform that allows field service techs to contact anyone in an organization in a number of different ways streamlines the flow of communication and dramatically increases efficiency in the process – in turn, enabling employees to do better work.
