Dell recently introduced the Latitude 14 Rugged, a new semi-rugged notebook. Here, Patrick Seidensticker, EUC National Client Technologist, Rugged at Dell, shares some of the details on the new device and its place in the market.
Field Technologies: What was the catalyst for Dell’s introduction of the new semi-rugged notebook, the Latitude 14 Rugged? What need do you feel this product addresses in the marketplace?
Seidensticker: Semi-rugged notebooks are the fastest growing segment in the rugged notebook market; the technology has evolved and the price/functionality value proposition has improved. Our new semi-rugged notebook, the Latitude 14 Rugged is the latest offering from the Dell Rugged Mobility group and is the product of years of customer feedback. The core design is based on Dell’s fully-rugged line of notebooks and the architecture leverages Dell’s flagship business notebooks. That enables the field user to benefit from the portability of a semi-rugged notebook, the durable heritage of a fully-rugged notebook, and the productivity benefits of an elite business notebook.
