Fresh drinking water is a critical asset that states have to manage carefully to ensure both its availability and safety. At the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the Division of Water Supply Protection (DWSP), Office of Watershed Management oversees the protection of watersheds that supply drinking water to approximately 2.5 million residents in the metro Boston area.
