Wireless Matrix Maps Progress In Towing Industry
Strong Growth in FleetOutlook GPS Tracking Deployments in Q4, Company Named Preferred Vendor by Virginia Association
Wireless Matrix, a leading provider of GPS fleet tracking services, announced recently that it has realized strong growth and adoption of its FleetOutlook fleet tracking solution in the service-intensive towing industry, winning 13 towing customers in the fourth quarter of FY2011.
The company has also established membership in two towing industry associations, the Towing and Recovery Association of America (TRAA), and the Virginia Association of Towing and Recovery Operators (VATRO). In April, VATRO selected Wireless Matrix as the organization's preferred vendor for GPS fleet management services for its member companies.
Towing companies face the same operational costs as larger commercial fleets, such as fuel, safety and driver management, but are often independently owned and operated. As a result, they are highly sensitive to adding additional expense without corresponding value.
But more companies are realizing the value of fleet tracking to their operations, recognizing that FleetOutlook provides the means to:
- Monitor PTO usage, vehicle idle and unnecessary miles driven, all of which contribute to fuel waste and expense;
- Ensure accurate home starts and better driver direction, making drivers more productive and customer responsive; and
- Eliminate unauthorized side jobs that consume resources, add wear and tear to a wrecker, and put a company's reputation at risk.
"There's a hundred excuses that you can have why a driver would disappear," said Mike Looney, general manager of A&J Auto Parts, Bronx, New York, "or why it would take more than two hours to do that normal hour and 45-minute run, and [FleetOutlook] has been able to narrow that down."
"Towing company operators have a particular interest in solutions that provide them with greater vehicle and driver management or the foundation to keep costs in check. With FleetOutlook, they receive both," said Mary Foltz, vice president of product and marketing for Wireless Matrix. "Our growth in this industry and VATRO's endorsement of Wireless Matrix as its preferred solution provider are strong indicators of the value these operators find in FleetOutlook."
