Trimble Registers FMCSA Compliant ELD Solution

Trimble is pleased to announce that our FieldMaster Logs application is now registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) as a self-certified Electronic Logging Device (ELD) solution. FieldMaster Logs will help commercial motor vehicle drivers and carriers adopt the FMCSA’s ELD mandate that goes into effect December 18, 2017.

FieldMaster Logs adds Hours of Service (HOS) and Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) functionality to our robust Fleet Management offering. In order to prevent driver fatigue and reduce accidents, the FMCSA’s HOS rules restrict the number of hours a driver may operate his/her vehicle.

Our FieldMaster Logs application tracks driver activity, provides clear communication to the driver about hours remaining, and gives robust reports to managers to measure their driver’s activity and availability. Using FieldMaster Log’s DVIR features ensures that drivers perform safety inspections of their vehicle and that vehicle issues are captured and communicated to the maintenance team.

While drivers who do not have an existing AOBRD device will need to comply with the ELD mandate by December 18, 2017, customers using FieldMaster Logs 1.0 or 2.0 will have until December 2019 before needing to upgrade to an ELD certified device.

There are some benefits to waiting for ELD compliance by rolling out an AOBRD device before the December 2017 deadline. Carriers who start with AOBRD now will have the benefit of lower regulatory compliance and drivers will be able to use the simpler AOBRD workflows for an additional two years.
