The Next Decade Of Fast, Connected And Reliable Mobility

By James Dempsey, Panasonic TOUGHBOOK

Today’s demand for mobility continues to grow and so do the number of devices, services, and applications available on the market. By 2025, nearly 6 billion people worldwide will be connected to mobile services, up from 5 billion in 2017. That means that within the next five years, 71 percent of the world’s population will be using mobile services, according to GSMA.

When thinking about the large population of those using mobile services, the global workforce is seeing similar mobile device adoptions, and the technology they utilize and depend on a day to day basis will need to provide high durability and low downtime to align with the worker’s needs and challenges. Rugged mobile devices provide important real-time communications and access to data across industries.

A focus for the future of rugged mobile technology will be on the increased adoption of Android operating system devices, the exponential growth of 5G service and Internet of Things (IoT)-connected devices. With these trends shaping the enterprise mobility industry, the number of business-related connected devices will exceed the number of consumer-related devices in use worldwide.
