Telit Connects WH Electronics' Next-Gen Axon Intelligent Vehicle Interface

M2M Module Leader Enables Compact, Feature-Rich Telematics Application for Efficient Fleet & Auto Usage Management

Telit Wireless Solutions, a leading global provider of high-quality machine-to-machine (M2M) modules and services, provides its HE863 M2M module to WH Electronics Inc. and enables connectivity in the next-generation AXON Intelligent Vehicle Interface. With this compact, comprehensive telematics device, fleet managers can remotely monitor vehicle usage and driver behavior with instant access to fuel levels, idling times, maintenance status and more.

From commercial transport and delivery service organizations to companies providing field service or rental vehicles, AXON-connected fleets allow a wide range of corporate entities to minimize fuel and maintenance costs by collecting and responding to real-time vehicle information via cellular networks.

“Telit’s assistance throughout the development process was crucial to the success of our design,” said Waldek Hupa, president of WH Electronics Inc. “With the Telit HE863 module as the backbone of AXON, we are able to deliver a quality fleet tracking solution designed for long-term reliability and durability in the field.”

The discrete 8.5 cm x 10.5 cm x 3 cm AXON packs an unmatched feature set into an extremely compact tracking device that connects to a car or truck’s OBD-II port, supporting vehicle location, geofencing, disablement, lock/unlock, diagnostics and more.  AXON has also partnered with Garmin to offer a full end-to-end solution. Plugging the installed AXON into an in-vehicle Garmin portable GPS device, fleet managers can send messages or new routes directly to drivers with the solution’s two-way communications capabilities.
“WH Electronics plays a crucial role in the M2M value chain, leveraging its telematics expertise to bring easy-to-integrate solutions to potential adopters,” said Mike Ueland, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Telit Wireless Solutions North America. “The AXON Intelligent Vehicle Interface lets fleet managers take advantage of the operational efficiencies and cost savings of M2M without the financial risk and time delay of designing their own custom cellular application.”

The HE863 measures a compact 31.4 mm x 41.4 mm x 3.0 mm and operates at an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, able to withstand harsh vehicle conditions. The HE863 family includes features like HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.8 Mbps, EDGE, SMS Support, embedded TCP/IP protocol stack, and custom Telit AT commands.
