When service companies deploy mobile solutions, two chief concerns are whether or not the new system will integrate with their existing enterprise solutions, and the TCO (total cost of ownership) of their new mobile devices. Vidéotron, an integrated communications company engaged in cable television, interactive multimedia development, Internet access services, cable telephony, and wireless telephone service, automated its field service operations with a solution operating on BlackBerry smartphones from Research in Motion (RIM) that has addressed both of those concerns, while also improving dispatching and providing significant cost savings.
