White Paper: Take High-Performance Applications Inside And Outside The Warehouse

Source: Quest Solution

Industrial companies have realized that the high repair and replacement costs of non-industrial strength computers for vehicles such as forklifts and trucks, along with the decrease in productivity associated with downtime, can greatly hamper profitability. Today's vehicle-mount computers (VMCs) need to deliver reliable performance even in the most hostile environments, but more important than ever before is the pressure to do more with less despite the increasing complexity of distribution operations.

According to Doug Brown, Director of Product Management at LXE, recent customer and industry research has revealed that the biggest challenges companies face in driving increased productivity and savings are related to technology limitations. From the front office to the warehouse floor, today's companies need to run high-performance software applications from virtually anywhere. "VMCs equipped with the latest in chip and processing power technology coupled with the XP platform offer real savings in both time and money," commented Brown. The newly stated preference for greater processing power and Windows® XP over Windows® CE can be attributed to several factors including the demand for today's mobile devices to handle a wider range of more sophisticated applications, the desire to create a single IT infrastructure, and the need to minimize downtime.
