Smartphone Server: Cerience Announces Repligo Server 2.0 For BlackBerry
Wireless Enterprise Symposium -- Cerience Corporation recently announced RepliGo Server 2.0 for BlackBerry Enterprise Server from Research In Motion (RIM). The new version enables users to retrieve, view, fax, print and share documents from a wide variety of sources including content management systems, corporate networks, email and the Internet. Users gain increased access to business information, allowing them to work faster, smarter and more efficiently.
RepliGo Server enables full fidelity viewing of documents and email attachments such as Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office, Corel WordPerfect, OpenOffice, faxes and photos. Using sophisticated document understanding technology, the solution delivers an enhanced viewing experience on BlackBerry smartphones by retaining the document's original formatting, fonts, colors, graphics, charts and images.
The new version offers the following key features:
- Network access allows users to retrieve documents from shared folders on corporate networks
- Integration with the BlackBerry web browser enables web-based documents to be viewed with the RepliGo client application
- Integrated faxing allows users to send faxes directly from their BlackBerry smartphones via corporate fax servers and fax services
- Bluetooth printing provides full color wireless printing to HP compatible printers
- Personal document storage allows users to save and organize their own documents for long-term reference
- Document sharing gives users the ability to access and send documents by email
- Bookmarks and hyperlinks simplify navigation and integrate with the BlackBerry email, phone and browser applications
- The software development kit provides programmatic access to RepliGo Server and the RepliGo client software, enabling the development of custom document solutions
Interwoven is using Cerience's software development kit to integrate RepliGo Server into an upcoming version of Interwoven WorkSite, the industry-leading document management system for professional services firms. The combined solution will enable BlackBerry users to view documents directly from Interwoven WorkSite in their original fidelity.
"Customers are looking for ways to allow their employees to have the most current and accurate information at their fingertips. Integrating RepliGo with Interwoven WorkSite brings together two best-in-class solutions to give mobile workers access to accurate and timely information, anywhere at anytime," said Neil Araujo, vice president of professional services industry solutions marketing at Interwoven.
"Every modern organization relies on documents to communicate vital business information to its workforce," said Dave Formanek, VP Product Development at Cerience. "When desktop-quality documents are readily accessible on BlackBerry smartphones, knowledge can follow users wherever they travel, enabling businesses to work more productively and effectively."
