Guest Column: Getting Down To Business: Is The iPhone Ready For Enterprise?

The introduction of the new Apple iPhone 3G has been an unqualified success, with more than one million units sold in the first three days following its July 11 launch. Everyone from students to seniors seems to love the ultra-slick design of Apple's user interface and device form factor.

The myriad applications available for the iPhone are proving equally popular. By the end of August, more than 60 million applications had been downloaded from the Apple App Store and new applications ranging from games to productivity tools are appearing all the time.

As popular as the new iPhone is with consumers, the question many people are still asking themselves is whether it's ready for enterprises?
