It wasn't that long ago that wireless mobile computing was seen as a necessary workforce productivity tool only for a select few companies. Anymore, however, it seems that just about any company that doesn't have some sort of wireless mobile computing initiative in place is behind the times. "In the past, there were four major concerns regarding wireless carrier services: speed, bandwidth, latency, and security," says Butch Musselman, director of business solutions at Sprint. "3G wireless overcomes all those concerns. Even the trucking industry, which used to rely primarily on satellite coverage, is now using cellular-based wireless connectivity."

If your company has put off rolling out a carrier-based mobile computing solution in the past, now may be a good time to take another look. That said, there are still pitfalls you'll want to avoid, and with the advice from experts at AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon Wireless, you can.
