Tech Update: Rugged Tablets Ascending In The Enterprise

The launch of Apple's iPad earlier this year brought new attention to an otherwise small computing niche, the tablet computer. Over the past 15 years, tablets have been the "next big thing" in consumer mobile computing several times, but have failed to catch fire with the public. Not so in enterprise applications, where rugged tablet computers (and their close cousins, rugged notebooks and laptops) have found a home in field service and other applications.
