Case Study: A New Backup Dispatch Center For Washington State's Largest Utility
Source: Zetron, Inc.
Washington state's largest utility, Puget Sound Energy (PSE), recently collaborated with Zetron to equip the utility's new backup dispatch center with a custom Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) radio dispatch console system.
This was no small task. It required that PSE and Zetron work together closely to create a solution that would:
- Be cost effective.
- Co-exist with PSE's current radio dispatch equipment.
- Take advantage of PSE's existing network infrastructure.
- Provide an environment with a look and feel similar to that of PSE's existing system.
- Provide the flexibility necessary to support future upgrades.
The project was completed on schedule and is meeting the requirements that PSE and Zetron identified for the system. As a result, PSE has the flexible solution it needs. And Zetron has released the system – a VoIP radio console – as one of its most promising new products.
