Ergonomics For Mobile Data Capture

An ergonomic design creates a comfortable form factor for all-day use to help reduce repetitive strain injuries while increasing operational performance. Ten years ago, terminals used for data capture in warehouses and retail stores were simple devices resembling industrial boxes. At the time, these devices were used for specific activities at receiving and possibly during annual inventories. As enterprises have realized the increased efficiency and productivity that mobile computers provide, their use has expanded. With expanded applications, the expected use time by a single user has also increased to the point where human factors must be taken into account.
