As utilities take their first step toward the Smart Grid, most are beginning their journey with the implementation of an AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) system. Many of these utilities are also realizing that to truly harness the power of the Smart Grid, they must have a separate wireless data network capable of delivering 24/7 high-speed communication. Thorough evaluation of options for these wireless data systems is a critical step not to be overlooked.
