Shelba D. Johnson (SDJ) Trucking Inc. specializes in furniture deliveries to 23 states. The company serves more than 400 furniture shippers and 4,000 retail locations from its two terminals in North Carolina.

During a recent holiday season, SDJ Trucking leased 100 trailers to cover the surge in business. Convinced his company was "overleasing" trailers, President Joe Wade decided instead to buy 70 trailers. "After that, we said we wouldn't lease trailers anymore," said Wade. "By not leasing, our company can be more profitable."
