Executive Outlook: Know The Costs Of M2M Development

There has been quite an explosion of new interest in M2M applications over the past year. This could be due to the increased media attention to "smart" technology such as Smart-grids. Or, perhaps it has to do with the increased productivity and efficiency that M2M applications provide during a time of recession. Our firm, M2MV, and its partners have been involved with these solutions for many years, and there are some business aspects of M2M applications that we assumed were well known and understood. Recent client interaction has caused us to rethink that assumption, as we have seen clients with large holes in their M2M application project budgets for costs that are unavoidable. Here we will attempt to provide an overview of some of the larger, costly requirements that may not be apparent to anyone who does not have past experience with launching an M2M application featuring wireless connectivity.
