Selecting A Tablet: 7 Inches Vs. 10 Inches

Source: ClickSoftware

In this article, Gill Bouhnick, director of mobility at ClickSoftware discusses how the release of the Nexus 7 and rumors of the iPad mini have caused many companies to ask what tablet form factor is better for their field workers: 7 or 10 inch.

10 inch tablets provide much more mobility for field workers than a traditional laptop, not requiring a place to set it down to complete tasks and no need to carry a mouse or extra computing equipment. Gestures, screen size, brightness, and resolution provide excellent viewing and easy interaction with tablets. 10 inch tablets do become a bit heavy after using them for some time though.

The lighter weight of 7 inch tablets is certainly an advantage and their smaller form factor provides more portability. They can be stored easier in smaller bags and even placed into large pockets which can be helpful when your field worker has to carry tools and other devices with them to perform service.

It all comes down to if we really need the larger form factor and those extra 3 inches and what your workers are doing with their tablets makes all the difference.
