Samsung Mobile And Xora Team Up To Offer Next-Generation Solution For Managing Mobile Field Employees

Companies will jointly market Xora GPS TimeTrack with new SAFE certified Samsung Rugby Smart Android Smartphone

Xora, Inc., a global leader in mobile business applications, and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile), the No. 1 mobile phone provider in the United States, recently announced they will team up to market a next-generation solution to help public and private sector organizations and their delivery and service field employees work smarter and faster. The solution consists of Xora GPS TimeTrack and the Samsung Rugby Smart, Samsung's newest ruggedized Android smartphone.

A Samsung Approved for Enterprise (SAFE) device, the Samsung Rugby Smart is equipped with an exclusive security suite that delivers enterprise-friendly capabilities above and beyond standard Android features to help safeguard sensitive data and communications. Features include mobile device management, on-device encryption, virtual private network (VPN), and corporate email. Samsung SAFE devices meet rigorous security criteria and are configured specifically with enterprise use in mind.

The Xora-Samsung Rugby Smart combination provides:

  • Wireless forms collection and signature capture that eliminate the need for paper forms
  • Clock-in and clock-out on the phone to ensure accurate, automated payroll
  • High resolution picture capture and barcode scanning to document delivery, site and inventory details
  • Accurate digital maps that show precise locations of employees and vehicles so managers can reassign employees on the fly and help ensure employee safety
  • Powerful, popular and intuitive Android operating system
  • The reliability, durability and security of a SAFE certified and ruggedized mil spec phone from industry leader Samsung

Said Timothy Wagner, Vice President and General Manager of B2B Sales for Samsung Mobile, "Xora is a proven and cost-effective solution for organizations whose success depends on the performance of their employees in the field. Xora and the Samsung Rugby Smart together provide the mobile technology and communications backbone for any team that gets work done in the field - especially those working in harsh conditions that demand durability and security."

Xora GPS TimeTrack is a suite of configurable mobile apps that can be downloaded onto the Samsung Rugby Smart in minutes. The apps start collecting valuable information immediately, which is then automatically transmitted back to the Xora secure cloud-hosted management application.

The Xora management application can be accessed from any web browser and used by office personnel to monitor field activity in real time and pinpoint the exact location of employees and vehicles on Google Maps. Pre-defined alerts inform managers of situations that require immediate action. Historical data lets them analyze trends and make decisions that improve productivity over time.

The Samsung Rugby Smart is a rugged, dustproof device designed to handle the elements with water resistance (submergible up to 1 meter for 30 minutes) and built to mil-std 810f military spec standards. The Android 2.3 smartphone features a 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen display (480x800) and a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording. It also supports 4G service, Wi-Fi, corporate email and the full line of media including location, music and social networking services.

"As a longtime partner of Samsung Mobile, Xora has been anticipating the release of the Samsung Rugby Smart," said Tom Miltonberger, Xora Chief Technology Officer. "We view this new phone as an ideal complement to our mobile business applications in situations where customers need both a rugged device and the advanced native features of a smartphone. Our customers who fit that profile need a phone that is tough, powerful and smart, yet still affordable. Samsung has achieved that important balance with the Samsung Rugby Smart."

Xora and Samsung invite organizations to visit a new shared website to learn about discounts available for the combined solution and sign up for a best practices webinar event on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. PDT/2:00 p.m. EDT entitled, "Using Mobile Devices to Drive Profitability: Game Changing Use Cases from Innovative Field Service & Delivery Companies."
