According to a recent survey conducted by Gartner, more than 95% of organizations expect to maintain or grow their use of SaaS as it relates to enterprise application software. This number demonstrates quite a shift in the perception of SaaS in the marketplace over the past few years — not too long ago, many companies were uncomfortable with the idea of cloud computing and relished the control of owning and operating their own software solution. However, the results of Gartner's survey clearly illustrate the fact that the benefits and reliability of SaaS are now established in the enterprise space. Indeed, when Cox Communications, the third-largest cable provider in the United States, recently sought a new routing solution to more efficiently route its field technicians, the company made the decision to deploy a SaaS-based routing solution based on its affordability versus proprietary software.
