Ryzex Named to Inc. Magazine's "The Green 50"
October 27, 2006 – Ryzex today announced that it has been selected by Inc. Magazine to its inaugural list of “The Green 50,” a list of the nation’s most successful environmentally responsible companies. The honor includes featured coverage on both the Inc.com and Fastcompany.com websites, and a conversation with Ryzex Founder and CEO Rud Browne as part of an IncTV “Green 50” podcast.
Ryzex was born out of environmental commitment. Founder Rud Browne started the company in 1989 largely as a means of extending the life of data collection equipment; he saw this technology as a renewable and sustainable resource, something to be kept ‘in use’ and out of landfills. Ryzex has quickly evolved into a global force in the automated data collection, mobile wireless and RFID market spaces, providing full lifecycle technology support for businesses.
The company has an internal policy of zero waste, recycling everything from plastic and paper to the coffee grounds and donuts from morning meetings (to date in 2006, the corporate location has recycled more than 225,000 pounds of waste). Moreover, the company recently took its environmental stance to a new level by implementing several internal and external programs to augment its core business, including the recycling of any electronic waste both for business customers and the general public.
“The Green 50 award is well timed as we at Ryzex feel passionately that one way to help solve the world’s environmental problems is to create a model by which businesses can see that they can actually make money doing the right thing,” said Browne. “Inc. magazine was able to see this in what we’re doing at Ryzex and has chosen to shine a spotlight on our business. It is our hope that the Green 50 will serve as examples to promote the idea that there are ways to profitably do the right thing by our environment. We believe that some day, choosing the green approach will be a standard and expected profitable business practice.”

Within the next 12 months, Ryzex will complete its Zero Waste initiative and recycling programs by bringing them to its other locations in North American and Europe.
