Rugged Tablet Enhances EMS Service
Like all public safety departments, the City of Forest Park, Ga., Department of Fire and Emergency Services is continually looking to improve service and upgrade equipment. Keeping up to date with the latest medical technology extends to mobile computers that are carried in each of its ambulances. After trying commercial-grade laptops, the department wanted computers that are more convenient to use and more efficient at collecting data at the patient’s side. They wanted rugged units that stand up to all kinds of conditions and rough handling, and they needed computers that interface seamlessly with their Electronic Patient Care Reporting (ePCR) software.
When Forest Park upgraded its mobile computing capability, the choice was the ARMOR™ X10gx rugged mobile tablet from DRS Technologies.
“We acquired the ARMOR™ units to replace traditional laptops. The biggest reason was that the laptops did not have touch screen capability. It’s important to have touch screen for ease of documentation,” explains Major Joel Turner, EMS Director / Training for Forest Park Fire & Emergency Services.
