Rugged Computer: GETAC To Launch New Lighter, Brighter Fully Rugged PCs At Distributech 2008 In Tampa
GETAC Inc., a leading innovator and manufacturer of Rugged computers that meet the demands of field-based applications, recently introduce the ultra-lightweight GETAC E100 tablet PC and the "bright-as-you-need-it" GETAC B300 notebook PC during the DistribuTECH 2008 Conference & Exhibition at the Tampa Convention Center. Both new Fully Rugged PCs will be commercially available beginning in March 2008.
The new lightweight champion among Fully Rugged tablet PCs at only 3 pounds, the easy-to-carry GETAC E100 is designed with field and customer service applications in mind. Despite its trim look and feel, the E100 is every bit as tough as the heavyweights: It meets U.S. Army MIL-STD-810F and IP54 standards for durability and protection against dirt, dust, water, motion, vibration, temperature and other factors that would severely damage or disable a commercial-grade PC.
The versatile E100 offers field workers an 8.4-inch TFT SVGA transmissive display with integrated touch screen panel and customizable numeric keypad. Optional features include an Ultra-Bright 800 Nit sunlight-readable display and an array of expandable "mission boxes" designed for customized market applications that utilize RFID, barcode and magnetic strip readers or digital cameras.
The GETAC B300 notebook PC, meanwhile, takes sunlight-readable display technology to its logical next step by introducing the industry's first 1200 Nit screen and optional Night Vision capabilities, as well as a standard automatic brightness control that conserves battery power and maximizes screen readability under any lighting conditions.
The full-featured B300 is GETAC's dynamic warrior, built to survive any Rugged job or environment. The B300 introduces patent-pending technology designed by GETAC to meet the U.S. Army's MIL-STD-3009 standard for Night Vision. This eliminates the need for special Night Vision optical filters and provides an additional measure of safety for nighttime military or law enforcement applications by instantly darkening the unit's 13.3-inch transmissive sunlight-readable screen.
"The new GETAC E100 tablet and B300 notebook are the lightest and brightest new Fully Rugged PCs on the market today," said Jim Rimay, vice president of Sales & Marketing at GETAC. "They've been specially designed for people on the move whose work or work environments demand a high-performance computing solution that can survive and thrive under the most extreme conditions. We believe these new PCs will fill some significant gaps in the utility, field sales and service, and military and law enforcement markets, where a lighter, brighter Rugged PC solution will be highly valued."
Both Fully Rugged units are contained in a watertight magnesium alloy case that is vibration and drop-shock resistant and meet MIL-STD-810F and IP54 compliance standards (the B300 is available with optional salt fog and/or MIL-STD-461E compliance). The E100 includes 802.11b/g wireless LAN and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity as standard features; EV-DO and GPRS/EDGE networks and integrated GPS are available as options. The B300 includes 802.11b/g wireless LAN connectivity. Bluetooth 2.0, EV-DO and GPRS/EDGE networks and integrated GPS are available as options.
Both the GETAC E100 and B300 will be available through GETAC authorized resellers. Please visit www.getac.comfor more information.
