RTLS Healthcare: Patient Care Technology Systems Customers Use ED Information System To Electronically Chart One Million Patient Visits
Patient Care Technology Systems (PCTS), a subsidiary of Consulier Engineering, Inc., recently announced that their emergency department customers have utilized the company's Amelior ED patient care system to electronically chart over one million patient visits. The modular system provides comprehensive triage-to-disposition information management by integrating patient, staff and asset tracking, nurse and physician clinical charting, computerized provider order entry (CPOE), patient disposition management and department reporting. PCTS will be exhibiting its workflow automation solutions at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference in Orlando, Florida from February 25-28 in booth 2221.
The Amelior ED system features both clinical and workflow intelligence to support more efficient and safe patient care. Extensive clinical support for diagnoses, treatment plans and medication management is provided within the clinical charting modules. The ease and extent of the configurability at an end user level has contributed to very high levels of emergency clinician adoption.
In 2006, PCTS announced the integration of real-time location systems to automatically capture the real-time location of patients, staff and assets. Configurable ED workflow intelligence measures the location, movement and interactions between patients, staff and assets to automatically recognize and communicate patient care milestones as they occur. If an interaction was significant, additional software logic determines what to do next such as change a patient status, assign a task for the caregiver, or send a notification to a staff member. This is all completed without requiring busy staff to manually update their tracking system by keystroke, mouse-click or touch of a computer screen. The Amelior ED system is the first EDIS to provide native automatic tracking as an embedded module and interfaces with most infrared, active RFID, Wi-Fi and ultrasound locating systems.
"We thank our customers for choosing Amelior ED to support the tracking and documentation needs of their emergency departments," said Tony Marsico, president and CEO of PCTS. "The emergency department is a complex and high acuity environment to introduce workflow automation technology. We are pleased to support emergency departments of all sizes to orchestrate patient care more efficiently and safely with intelligent workflow solutions."
PCTS provides one of the broadest suites of workflow solutions for emergency departments including electronic reporting, nurse and physician template charting, automatic patient, staff and asset tracking and a comprehensive ED information system. Today, PCTS supports a client base of over 60 hospitals nationally.
