Prairie Land Electric Cooperative Streamlines AMI Project With Smart Meter Deployment And Support Solution From Clevest

Clevest Solutions Inc., a leading provider of mobile workforce automation software including smart grid deployment and post-deployment operations exclusively for the utility industry, announced that Kansas-based Prairie Land Electric Cooperative has successfully deployed its Smart Meter Deployment and Support solution to streamline the process for replacing approximately 16,000 mechanical meters and upgrade 9,000 electronic meters with new Landis+Gyr smart meters for customers in parts of 18 Northern Kansas counties.

"Clevest had a preconfigured solution with best practice templates that simplified the management of this type of large-scale project. Based on the company's well-established implementation methodology and impressive track record with other utilities, we were confident that the solution would help us effectively manage our AMI project and consistently capture the huge volumes of data it involves," explained Kirk Girard, Director of Finance, Prairie Land Electric Cooperative.

Doug Engerman, SVP Global Sales and Marketing for Clevest Solutions said, "For utilities, AMI projects are multimillion dollar, once-in-a-lifetime investments and having tools to help manage such complex undertakings and to ensure that best practice processes are followed is vital. Clevest's Smart Meter Deployment and Support solution is one of these key tools. To date, the solution has been instrumental in over 45 successful AMI projects that represent millions of meters across North America, demonstrating that our solution was designed to support utilities as they transition to the rapidly changing operating environment.”

The Clevest solution replaced long-standing, paper-based procedures that were previously in place at Prairie Land to capture meter data manually. Service orders for commercial, industrial and return-to-utility installations as well as ongoing maintenance in the field are generated in Prairie Land's NISC customer information system. Orders are now imported at regular intervals into the Clevest office application and then assigned to the Clevest mobile application. Meter technicians use handheld devices throughout the day to complete orders and, at the end of the day, information collected in the field is synchronized with the Clevest solution and then updated in Prairie Land's CIS.

Prairie Land engaged Clevest implementation partner KamTech Systems to manage the deployment of the Smart Meter Deployment and Support solution, which began earlier this year. The project was completed on time and on budget, and it met the aggressive timelines the co-op wanted to achieve with this phase of its AMI project.
