August 17, 2006 -- Hyan Microelectronics Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen, China), and Parelec Inc. (Rocky Hill, NJ, USA), a leading manufacturer of fully additive inks for electronic printed circuits, have teamed up to create a state-of-the-art RFID applications development program. The effort has resulted in two new products.

The first unique product is an anti-counterfeiting smart label that affixes inside or outside a product package. This breakable paper base tag is printed with a silver antenna. The compact (30 by 35 mm) label is designed to break instantly if someone tries to remove it, which demonstrates a product’s authenticity. In this way, products can be quickly identified as knock-offs. The smart labels will soon have their first commercial usage by a global manufacturer of cell phones.

The anti-counterfeit tags are engineered to ISO 14443 A/15693 and operate at a recommended frequency of 13.56 MHz. They have a user-programmable memory of 512 bits (14443)/1K bits (15693).

The second program is development of RFID-based transit tickets with crease-proof antennas. The manufacturing process is unique, resulting in antennas that can be pulled and bent but will continue to function. This resilient structure makes the antennas a natural choice for transit tickets, which are routinely subject to folding and creasing.

“These are cutting edge developments that will have widespread appeal in the retail and the transit worlds” notes Geva Barash, CEO of Parelec. “These new products are part of a very strong relationship that we have with Hyan that will produce more new applications and products in the market. We are looking forward to a long and successful partnership.”

“Parelec’s conductive inks and RFID technical experience are giving us the ability to develop products with significant competitive advantages,” notes Edmond Teng, Managing Director of Hyan. “We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership.”

Parelec applies nanotechnology and advanced materials systems to develop and market conductive inks and related materials for manufacturing electronic circuits.  The company’s core product lines, Parmod inks and pastes and Modflex films, provide cost, speed, and functional improvements over traditional circuit production materials, which benefit both producers and users of electronic circuits. Parelec’s products are used to provide low cost RFID antenna, specialty, and flexible circuits, intelligent packaging, heaters/defrosters for plastic windows, and in semiconductor packaging for a wide variety of electronics and consumer products.

Hyan Microelectronics has been developing and patenting RFID tag technologies since 1996. The company has advanced, automated electronic tag production lines that enable production of simple tag structures at low costs and high speeds.
