Odyssey Software Ushers In Next Wave Of Capabilities For Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007

Odyssey Software, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise-class mobile device management (MDM) products, recently announced version 3.0 of its console extensions for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (Configuration Manager) 2007 and Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, which includes new Feature Packs that further extend the remote device management capabilities of these platforms in the enterprise. Athena's new console extensions to Configuration Manager 2007 and SMS 2003 are designed to address enterprise requirements to provide comprehensive support for Windows Mobile or Windows Embedded CE devices. The new console extensions include:

Phone Feature Pack - By exposing phone and text, multi-media and email-messaging statistics as well cell tower association, this enhanced Feature Pack allows better management of the quality of service from carriers. These statistics also provide management with information helpful in managing productivity as well as assistance in communication compliance requirements.

Positioning Feature Pack - To improve logistics and security for devices with an onboard GPS receiver, this new Feature Pack exposes location based information and allows the information to be captured to show breadcrumb trails of the devices current position using mapping applications such as Google Maps and Bing Maps. It also provides logging based upon specified time intervals or distance changes enabling devices to be highlighted that are not moving or which travel outside a specific range.

Security Feature Pack - If a device is lost or stolen, this upgraded Feature Pack provides management with enhanced security of devices by providing the ability to lock, and if necessary, completely wipe data from devices.

Help Desk Utility - This tool will allow Help Desk personnel to take action on Athena managed devices without requiring an IT administrator to provide administration rights to Help Desk personnel via the Configuration Manager 2007 or SMS 2003 console.

Software Patches and Hot Fixes - Improved support for enabling software patches and hot fixes to previous installations of Athena will make it easier for existing Athena customers to make the most out of their Athena installations.

"Analysts have predicted that by 2011 upwards of 75 percent of employees nationally, and one billion workers worldwide, will be classified as mobile," said Mark Gentile, CEO of Odyssey Software. "A comprehensive mobile device management solution will be essential for organizations to maximize their return on investment. These new extensions underscore our commitment to meet customer needs by leveraging existing infrastructure, providing rich management capabilities and minimizing costs."

Athena is the only product that enables organizations to leverage their existing enterprise management investments, such as Configuration Manager 2007, for comprehensive remote and mobile device management. Unlike all other device management products, which require their own proprietary server, console and database infrastructure, Athena is uniquely designed to integrate seamlessly into the native infrastructure of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 and Systems Management Server 2003, without the need for additional Odyssey Software servers or consoles- thereby leveraging the inherent scalability, security, reliability and fail-over capabilities of these industry-standard platforms.
