New Rugged Hand-held Area Imager From Metrologic
January 8, 2007 – Metrologic Instruments, Inc. today announced the launch of its new rugged hand-held area imager at ProMat 2007. The supply-chain expo is being held in Chicago at McCormick Place South (Booth #2327) - January 8-11, 2007.
Metrologic’s hardy IS1890 FocusIND provides the industrial sector with an aggressive bar-code scanning solution for demanding environments. It builds on the success of MS1690 Focus, the industry’s leading hand-held area imager.
“FocusIND is a resilient area imager designed to overcome the often punishing conditions found in industrial settings,” said Nick Ciarlante, product manager for Metrologic. “With its IP65 rating, FocusIND is ideal for scanning in harsh conditions such as a dusty warehouses, steamy storerooms or rainy loading docks.”
Designed to withstand two-meter falls on concrete, FocusIND addresses bar coding scanning challenges in a diverse group of verticals, including:
· Manufacturing
· Transportation
· Logistics (Package Distribution)
· Postal Services
· Government (Unique Identification)
FocusIND draws on Metrologic’s core expertise in developing industrial imaging systems used by some of the world’s leading parcel companies and distribution centers. For image-capture applications, FocusIND combines a high-resolution CMOS sensor with a powerful processor which enables a wide array of outputs.
“FocusIND is the affordable all-in-one scanner built to meet the needs of any industrial user,” added Ciarlante. “Because FocusIND is so versatile, it lowers your equipment costs by eliminating the need to purchase additional specialty scanners.”
Regardless of orientation, FocusIND’s patented FirstFlash technology increases efficiency by decoding most standard bar codes in a single pass, including 1D, 2D, RSS, PDF417, microPDF, EAN/UCC Composite, Matrix and Postal Codes.
FocusIND also features Metrologic’s patented CodeGate technology. CodeGate zeros in on a desired code and completes data transmission with the push of a single button.
Metrologic will also exhibit its full range of fixed and mobile industrial products, including the SP5800 series Maximus, the rugged mobile computer which incorporates multi-frequency RFID capabilities, a high-resolution imager and an integrated fingerprint reader. The MR600 series Impulse fixed-RFID solution featuring Gen 2 EPC Global certification will also be shown. The iQ160 high-speed, high-resolution, fixed-focus CCD camera with industry-leading depth of field will accompany these products at the expo.
