New PeopleNet Video Intelligence Solution Combines Video-Monitoring With Telematics Data

PeopleNet (www.peoplenetonline.com), a Trimble(NASDAQ: TRMB) Company and leading provider of fleet mobility technology, announced today the launch of its new Video Intelligence Solution, a platform that brings forward-facing camera technology and PeopleNet’s Onboard Event Recording (OER) into an integrated system.

PeopleNet’s Video Intelligence Solution is the first video system of its kind to trigger video from company-controlled settings from a truck’s OER, augmenting traditional driver and truck analytics with onboard event recording.

“The ability to use video along with OER data provides an unbiased report of what’s happening on the road, giving fleet owners both protection and prevention capabilities,” said Jim Angel, Vice President of Video Intelligence Solutions at PeopleNet. “In the event of an accident, video evidence makes it easier to exonerate a driver, and when video is combined with data from the OER, it allows fleets to develop driver-specific training, helping to keep more drivers safely on the road.”

Available now for fleets using a PeopleNet onboard computer, the Video Intelligence Solution uses a forward-facing camera and in-cab digital video recorder (DVR) to wirelessly transmit videos to the PeopleNet Fleet Manager, a secure online control system for communications and carrier fleet management functions.

The Video Intelligence Solution integrates with the Safety Analytics dashboard to monitor driver behavior, posted speeding events and hours of service violations. The dashboard also captures Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) points and violations data provided by Vigillo, LLC, an industry leader in CSA reporting systems.

Other features of the Video Intelligence Solution include:

• Real-time review of video triggered by company-controlled OER settings, including sudden acceleration and deceleration or hard braking.
• On-demand video recall allowing for the efficient retrieval of video clips from the past 72 hours, searchable by truck or driver identification number.  
• An easy-to-navigate video library with sorting and filtering options, video flagging, exportable reports, location mapping and downloadable clips.
• The announcement was made at the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) 2016 Annual Convention being held in Las Vegas from March 6-9.
