Mobile Study: Pyxis Mobile Study Reveals Preference For Handhelds Over Laptops For Business Continuity Planning
Pyxis Mobile, the provider of mobile applications for the financial services industry, recently announced the results of a survey it conducted of its Customer Advisory Board on business continuity practices and perceptions. The study revealed overwhelming preference for mobile devices over laptop computers for business continuity planning and highlighted numerous levels of dependence among senior IT professionals for mobility in their business continuity plans.
More than 80 percent of respondents indicated that mobile devices are a better or equally good business continuity option than laptop computers. Seventy-two percent of respondents indicated that handheld devices are useful for business continuity because they provide the "core data" professionals need, while another 54 percent cited mobile devices' battery life as a primary advantage over laptops.
The survey also revealed that a large majority of respondents are confident that productivity would not suffer in the event of an incident that kept 30 percent or more of the company's employees from working on site.
"Our customers demand mobile solutions that easily integrate into business continuity plans for both crisis and non-crisis events," said Shane Hughes, CEO of Pyxis Mobile. "The preference for handheld devices to laptops for business continuity planning is clear. Handhelds are more mobile and have longer battery life than laptops without sacrificing accessibility to core data."
