Mobile Speakerphone: Mvox Introduces Smallest Bluetooth Speakerphone For Mobile Professionals

Mvox Technologies, Inc. recently announced the availability of its anticipated Duo, a high performance, mobile Bluetooth speakerphone that integrates the functionality of handsfree car kits, voice interface intelligence, wireless headsets, and desktop conference phones into a tiny, wearable, and portable device.

Previewed at DemoFall in September 2006, the Duo is the most sophisticated, portable Bluetooth speakerphone available today. Mvox's patent pending Small Array Microphone (SAM) technology delivers loud and clear voice quality and full duplex capabilities, which enables clip free, natural two-way conversations. It features superior noise and echo cancellation, which blocks typical background disruptions, via a three-dimensional cone to grab the voice while dramatically reducing highway, wind, and engine noises while on the road.

While most aftermarket car kits and Bluetooth headsets simply provide a wireless and/or handsfree connection, they are not truly hands- or eye-free. Users still need to pick up the phone, look up/dial numbers, or view caller ID for inbound calls.

The Duo is unique in that it features one-touch voice command calling and also voice ID announcement for incoming calls. Numbers can be dialed without looking, by pressing the "one touch" button on the Duo and saying a name, command or phone number. When a call comes in, it will announce the number or the name if it's in your Duo phonebook. Long numbers, calling cards, and conference bridges can also be pre-programmed for one touch voice access.

The Mvox Duo also features a built-in, phone independent phonebook, which is managed using the included software. This allows the Duo and your contacts to be used with any mobile phone.

The Duo includes an ergonomic holster for versatile wearing or placement for handsfree calls. When privacy is needed, the Duo slips out of the holster and automatically converts to a headset.

The Mvox Duo can also be used as a VoIP speakerphone or headset for softphone applications including Skype, AOL, Avaya, Yahoo, Gizmo Project and Google Gtalk. It connects to a PC via USB or Bluetooth.

"Echoes, static, poor voice quality, and noise associated with aftermarket Bluetooth speakerphones and headsets still impair conversations, but most consumers tolerate it," said Dr. Ku, CEO of Mvox. "Mobile professionals however, struggle with these issues daily. The Mvox Duo was designed specifically for business users to enable natural, clear and handsfree communications wherever their business may take them. Its integrated headset feature facilitates privacy and its USB connectivity turns the Duo into a conference speakerphone, eliminating the need to juggle several dedicated devices."

The Duo provides up to 3 hours of talk time in speakerphone mode and 7 hours in privacy mode. It is available today for $250 MSRP through Mvox.com.
