Company Raises $2.5M from Strategic Angel Investors

Mobile Pulse recently announced its mobile broadband measurement and analysis software solution that provides the capability to analyze coverage, performance and availability of an organization’s broadband mobile networks, by carrier, location and device.

The Mobile Pulse software serves the mobile ecosystem from enterprise and government IT executives to tower companies and carriers and helps all entities understand how their mobile networks are serving their organizations.

Enterprise spending on wireless data is expected to approach $17B in 20151 , with carriers spending more than $45B2a year on network upgrades to support the current and projected growth.  But there is still a significant hole in the market preventing enterprises and carriers alike from successfully keeping pace with the race to mobility: the ability to accurately predict network availability, performance and manage the associated costs.

“Most organizations don’t know their mobile network isn’t available until an employee complains, nor can they accurately assess the impact of network outages to the productivity of their mobile workforce. That is unacceptable,” said Andrew MacFarlane, CEO and founder, Mobile Pulse. “The entire mobile ecosystem is negatively impacted by the lack of specific, actionable information associated with mobile network performance.”

“Independent mobile broadband measurement data enables enterprise and government executives, tower companies and carriers to be better positioned to understand, identify and solve performance issues in their mobile networks, which will lead to improved mobile network availability for all mobile devices, and improved productivity for those using them,” he continued.

Unlike current mobile device management solutions and current network analytics solutions, Mobile Pulse gathers performance metrics and provides actionable analytics based on the data gathered over time, across geographies, carriers, and devices.

The performance test results generated by the Mobile Pulse software can be used by national carriers and tower companies to confidently address problem coverage areas and will allow these companies to offer better coverage and faster networks.

“The appeal of a service like this is enormous,” said Charles Brett, vice president and principal analyst, Constellation Research, Inc. “Think about the implications of what could occur if smart device users possessed a small client on their device which reported on what data services worked for which carriers where. Individuals as well as enterprises and other organizations could then celebrate knowing they had access to what would materially help productivity -- something certainly not available today.”

Mobile Pulse also announced today that it has secured $2.5M from a group of strategic angel investors to help accelerate the company’s efforts. Sid Gorham, former CEO of Neilsen Media (formerly Telephia), and Robert McKenzie, a current board member of Crown Castle, have joined the Board of Directors of Mobile Pulse.
