Mobile Notebook: Toshiba Enters 13.3-inch Notebook Market
Tecra M8-S8011 model is based on the Intel's Santa Rosa platform featuring faster Core 2 Duo processors, better integrated graphics and improved wireless capabilities.
Toshiba has announed the launch of the Tecra M8-S8011 notebook featuring the 13.3-inch diagonal widescreen display. The Tecra M8 meets the demands of an increasing number of on-the-go professionals seeking a fully-featured and highly mobile notebook.
Toshiba claims that they have skillfully incorporated a 13.3-inch widescreen display, Intel Centrino Duo processor technology, a SuperMulti DVD drive and integrated webcam, all within the compact footprint of the affordable Tecra M8. It offers users a 20 percent larger viewing area than a 12.1-inch diagonal widescreen notebook, while maintaining a more compact form-factor when compared to a standard 14.1-inch diagonal widescreen notebook. Toshiba has also managed to fit in a 1.3-Megapixel webcam for video conferencing.
Tecra M8 weighs around 4.5 pounds. It features the regular Santa Rosa components such as the Core 2 Duo Processor with 800 MHz FSB, 4MB L2 cache, Mobile Intel GM965 Express chipset, DirectX 10 complaint Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 and Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n wireless. The Tecra M8 also features Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 2.0 plus Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) to complete the system's broad range of connectivity options.
The Tecra M8-S8011 will also include Intel Turbo Memory, a technology that improves battery life and performance by reducing the time it takes the system to boot, launch applications and return from hibernation mode. Intel Turbo Memory technology also enables the Tecra M8 to help run its Windows Vista Business operating system quicker and with greater efficiency.
To assist in safeguarding the notebook's hard drive and critical data from the bumps, jolts and knocks of daily mobile computing, the Tecra M8 integrates a 3D accelerometer, HDD vibration dome and vibration dampening material. Multi-level passwords, a convenient keyboard and fingerprint reader to help prevent unauthorized access and protect user privacy.
