Small and mid-size enterprises are often fingered as the obvious targets for on-demand mobile field service solutions, but in actuality, large service organizations also have substantial benefits to gain from at least starting with on-demand mobile deployments.
The complexities associated with conducting and transacting service work seamlessly from the field, coupled with the increasing strategic importance of post-sales service, are driving service organizations to more seriously consider mobile field service technology investments. About 42% of companies Aberdeen recently surveyed are currently using a mobile field service solution, with many more planning deployments over the next 12 to 24 months.
These prospective mobility buyers are faced with an increasingly complex and evolving vendor landscape. In addition to premise-based applications, solution providers are increasingly coming to market with hosted, or on-demand deployment options – also known as "software-as-a-service" (SaaS) – making mobile field service (MFS) solutions more accessible for small and mid-size enterprises.
