Mobile Device Connectivity Problems Eliminated With Wavelink ConnectPro
Wavelink Corporation recently announced several enhancements to Wavelink ConnectPro, formerly known as TermProxy, which allows mobile users to stay connected to host systems in all environments across Wi-Fi and wide-area networks (WAN).
Wavelink ConnectPro allows users to stay connected in the most demanding of environments. Because it sits between the client and the host, it maintains a steady connection to the host system even if a connection is momentarily lost.
The ConnectPro server provides multiple options to ensure a complete failover environment and eliminates the potential for single point of failure. Other similar connection persistence solutions cannot eliminate the single point of failure. It eliminates lost data due to dropped connections because the ConnectPro server software maintains the session, even if the device goes to sleep or the connection is lost. Mobile devices can roam freely in and out of wireless coverage, survive a device reboot, or battery change while maintaining application state and seamlessly reconnect to the host and existing sessions. This is crucial to those business environments where users must maintain constant application connectivity or where wireless coverage is poor.
The new release of ConnectPro upgrades to OpenSSL 0.9.8m, adds support for hosts with multiple consecutive ports, improves Telnet client protocol with newer clients to better detect whether network disconnects are intentional or caused by network errors, and adds support for additional traffic compression between ConnectPro and Wavelink Telnet clients.
"As a leader in device management, we are always looking for ways to help our customers increase automation, productivity and efficiency," said Jay Cichosz, director of marketing for Wavelink. "Wavelink pioneered wireless connection persistence almost 20 years ago, and we continue to deliver innovative features that help our customers maintain connectivity even in the most demanding of environments. It's peace of mind for our customers."
Wavelink ConnectPro works with the company's Terminal Emulation offering that extends mission-critical applications to mobile workers. Wavelink Terminal Emulation has more than 3 million clients deployed in mission-critical supply chain environments for thousands of companies, including 90 percent of North America's top 25 retailers. Wavelink software ships on more mobile devices than all of its competitors combined.
