White Paper: Consider MFPs For Your Distributed Capture Needs

One important MFP-related trend is the increase in SDKs (software development kits), which can be used to add/unlock a number of new MFP features and functions. "Not too long ago, there were just a couple of software upgrade options available," recalls Robert J. Curci, product manager at Panasonic Communications Company of North America. "Nowadays, it's not uncommon for a vendor to offer integration with more than 100 kinds of software."

According to Dave Kiewra, president of Innovative Systems and Solutions, LTD, "SDKs for MFPs have evolved to enable technology partners to deliver advanced functionality through a user-friendly interface. The result is new MFP features that may not have been accessible previously by the average user or not previously discovered. It's now commonplace for an average user to walk up to an MFP and scan, index, and store documents to a local or hosted document management system [DMS]."
