MELODIS Unveils Scalable, User-Friendly Voice Dialer For Apple iPhone
Pioneering search and sound recognition company MELODIS Corporation recently unveiled MELODIS Voice Dialer, its latest user-friendly freeware application for the Apple iPhone. Developed using MELODIS's industry-leading voice recognition and search technology, MELODIS Voice Dialer scales to ensure fast, accurate results even when searching through thousands of contact names.
"Dialing by voice is a much simpler, more natural interface for iPhone users than scrolling through a long list of contacts, but speed and accuracy are essential," said Keyvan Mohajer, president and chief executive officer of MELODIS Corporation. "Many voice-based dialers are unacceptable to users because they are too slow, particularly as the number of contacts grows. The MELODIS Voice Dialer, on the other hand, is very user-friendly and scales easily to deliver a high level of speed and accuracy whether the user has 10 contacts or 10,000."
The MELODIS Voice Dialer uses the Crystal Engine, MELODIS's recent achievement in speech search technology. The Crystal Engine is a search engine with a unique design that accepts voice as input instead of text. By avoiding the traditional approach of voice-to-text conversion, the Crystal Engine can achieve higher accuracy compared to existing solutions.
The MELODIS Voice Dialer automatically indexes all contact information stored on the iPhone without the user having to re-enter it. To activate the MELODIS Voice Dialer, the user simply presses and holds the application button on the iPhone screen and begins to speak.
MELODIS's innovative voice recognition technology enables users to quickly find the right contact information and automatically dial the number as an option. To call Michael Smith, for example, users can say, "Michael Smith," "call Michael Smith," "call Michael," and so on. Saying, "call" before the name automatically dials the number. Users can also specify whether they want to call the contact at home, at work or on their cell phone.
"Speed and accuracy are the two key ingredients to make mobile voice search applications successful," said MELODIS board member Rich Geruson, who served as CEO of VoiceSignal, a world leader in voice-enabled mobile search solutions, prior to its acquisition by Nuance. "MELODIS has been able to achieve both speed and accuracy using their Crystal Engine, which uses a completely different approach to speech search than the traditional technologies."
MELODIS Voice Dialer is available for free on the iPhone App Store and is supported by non-intrusive mobile advertising. "MELODIS believes in the future of mobile voice search as well as mobile advertising," said Mohajer. "MELODIS Voice Dialer is our first attempt to bring these two promising industries together within the same product."
