Major Freight Airline Upgrades To Simplified Mobility Solution

Source: Stratix Corporation

This case study from Stratix takes a look at a major air freight carrier operating more than 200,000 flights each year as they need to replace their 300 outdated mobile devices to improve freight monitoring capabilities, improve uptime in the field, and improve visibility and efficiency of repairs and replenishment. Transportation and logistics workers often operate in harsh physical environments and their mobile devices have higher failure rates because of this. Normally these businesses will buy spare devices to ensure enough working devices are always on-hand and customer demands are met.

Management of the devices being used by this carrier had become unwieldy as the number of repairs and replenishments had grown out of control. Both the carrier and their current provider were unable to effectively track the location of spare mobile devices which reduced mobile uptime and impacted customer service. These problems threatened contractual compliance requirements with one of their critical clients, the United States Postal Service (USPS).

To resolve the current problems the carrier turned to Stratix to provide them with a complete solution. Stratix replaced the freight carrier’s 300 outdated devices with rugged Motorola devices that could better withstand the harsh environments their workers had to operate in and maintain a high level of uptime…
