Intellisync Unveils Intellisync Infobots, One-Touch Mobile Device Access To Enterprise Applications
Intellisync Corporation (Nasdaq: SYNC), the leader in platform-independent wireless messaging and mobile software, today introduced Intellisync Information Bots, or Infobots, that provide mobile professionals with "one-touch" access to virtually any business application from their mobile device. With a simple click from their device screen, mobile professionals can use Intellisync Infobots to obtain information from a wide range of public, private and corporate data sources.
Intellisync Infobots, the automated, menu-driven data access agents, work just like instant messaging, but for corporate and personal data use. Users "chat" with the Intellisync Infobot by typing on their mobile device screen. When a user "asks" a question, the Intellisync Infobot retrieves the relevant information and communicates it as an "answer" on the user's chat interface. The information accessible by Intellisync Infobots is almost limitless. Mobile professionals can use the flight status Infobot to find out current airline flight status or the stock status Infobot to check stock prices in real-time, or gain critical information from corporate data servers inside their company.
Intellisync Infobots also provide mobile professionals with seamless, instant access to their CRM data such as safesforce.com, Oracle, Siebel and other industry-standard ERP and CRM systems. A mobile worker can, for instance, query his Salesforce CRM system for a particular customer, and get details about the customer's purchase history and support calls. All he needs to do is use his smartphone to "ask" the salesforce.com Intellisync Infobot on his IM screen and he will get an accurate response right away. By accessing CRM systems through Intellisync Infobots, mobile sales professionals are further enabled to convert leads and prospects into signed, revenue-generating customers.
"Intellisync has a long history as a mobile innovation leader by providing seamless access to critical enterprise data from mobile devices," said Rip Gerber, chief marketing officer and general manager, e-commerce at Intellisync. "With Intellisync Infobots, we take wireless innovation to new levels by offering a quick, intuitive way for the mobile workforce to access enterprise databases and applications."
"Smartphones and PDAs are becoming standard equipment for mobile workers around the world. Mobile professionals rely on these devices to keep in touch with email, schedules, contacts and more. But there are limitations to the technology, especially when it comes to accessing websites on a mobile device browser. A web page that takes a long time to download uses up costly wireless data, and can be difficult to read and navigate on a data-enabled phone. Intellisync Infobots solve these problems by allowing users to access the information they need with a few simple keystrokes," he added.
Online, Onsite and On-The-Go
Intellisync Infobots can be deployed by enterprises or by mobile
operators. OEMs or enterprise application providers can easily develop
additional Infobots by using the Infobot development kit and scripting tools,
without lengthy custom client development work.
"Astea Alliance Mobile arms field service technicians with customer- and product-specific information and inventory data they need to quickly resolve their customers' problems on the first service call," said Frank Fesnak, VP of Strategic Alliances, Astea. "The Intellisync Infobot would extend existing capabilities by providing on-site technicians with one-touch access to run service-call, service-history and customer queries from nearly any mobile device. This seamless, device-independent access is designed to raise field service technology to a new level and enhance technicians' ability to resolve customer issues quickly."
The core engine behind the Intellisync Infobots has supported enterprise-scale implementations of 50,000 users and more. Intellisync Infobots securely encrypt all the data being sent to the mobile client so that the user's data is not exposed to the outside world. Additionally, the Infobot transport protocol is a full IP-push based solution that is highly efficient and uses a minimum amount of data bandwidth, creating savings for both enterprise and carrier customers.
Intellisync Infobots are sold as a component within Intellisync Mobile Suite and the Intellisync Carrier Platform. Each comes with several pre-defined Intellisync Infobots that provide common business information including news, weather, flight information and CRM access.
About Intellisync Infobots
An Intellisync Infobot consists of three integrated components: The
Infobot server, a device client, and a hosted Network Operations Center (NOC)
that gathers data to send to the client on behalf of the server. The
Intellisync Infobot server resides behind the corporate firewall and comes
with administration tools and the Infobot SDK. Authorized users download the
Intellisync Infobot client and have access to Infobots enabled for them by the
system administrator. When users launch the Intellisync Infobot client on
their mobile device, they are presented with a menu that lists all available
Infobots. Users can select the Infobot they want to use and follow the
on-screen instructions to access the data they need. The Intellisync Infobot
system guides them and tells them what to do. Users don't need any training
because the process is as simple as using instant messaging.
