With 2019 behind us, it’s time to start planning for 2020. What will your field operations team build over the year? What tools do your field technicians need to succeed? These questions and more are just the beginning of shoring up your resources for the new year.

The main question on many operations managers minds hasn’t changed in years, but it has reached a fever pitch over that past year: how do I increase the efficiency of my field technicians?

Here are three things to consider as you make plans to increase field efficiency in 2020.

1. Evaluate and track the metrics that matter to your business

Depending on the industry you operate in or what type of field work your technicians conduct, measuring field efficiency (and effectiveness) can take many forms.

For instance, here at Field Squared, we have customers that span many different industries (i.e., telecommunications, Oil & Gas, facility/building maintenance, utilities, home health care). Each industry has different needs when it comes to truly measuring the output of field resources.

Moreover, whether it’s the need to manage field crews, assets or customers, there are different metrics to further associate and analyze the efficiency of your field workforce.
