When organizations start looking into implementing a new business management solution, they’re faced with a number of different choices when it comes to the companies that sell and implement software. Businesses can choose to purchase a solution from a provider that focuses on volume sales, from the software company itself, or from a value-added reseller (VAR), among other options. So how do you decide which alternative is best for your business?
The amount of time you put into assessing the best solution provider should depend on how critical and strategic the solution is to your organization. If you’re just interested in implementing some kind of time and expense entry type of solution, it may not be worth it to spend a whole lot of time researching what different providers have to offer. But if the solution you’re seeking is more critical to your mission, it will pay off in the end to take a closer look at your options. If you choose to take that deeper dive, there are two important things to watch for.
