MobileDemand introduced a new rugged tablet computer Monday that the company says is the first fully rugged tablet PC running Microsoft’s new Windows 8 operating system.

The Windows 8 xTablet T1200 is aimed at the demanding conditions of outdoor and mobile users in utilities, mining, oil and gas exploration, construction, maintenance and repair, the military and other fields.

Features include a multi-touch resistive 10.4-inch liquid crystal display, Intel Core 5-3427U processor, and either the Windows 8 Professional or Windows 7 Professional operating system.

The tablet computer also features an integrated bar code scanner and radio-frequency identification reader, built-in numeric keypad, 3G and 4G LTE and Bluetooth 4.0 communications and 5 megapixel rear-facing cameras.

The new Windows 8 operating system provides users with multi-touch, Windows Bitlocker full drive encryption and the Windows Defender anti-virus application, among other features.

MobileDemand last month introduced the new xTablet T7200, a rugged handheld with a sunlight-readable seven-inch touch screen display.

Matt Miller founded MobileDemand in 2003. From 2008 through 2011, it achieved a 421 percent revenue growth rate.
