Global Asset Tracking With M2M

Sometimes even companies that provide high-tech supply chain tracking solutions need help with their own asset management needs. Reusable pallet provider Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS) recently deployed a GPS-based asset management solution for its pallet fleet that has helped cut costs while improving customer service.

iGPS, in business since 2006, operates a pallet rental service that utilizes lightweight, 100% recyclable plastic pallets that can be tracked using embedded RFID tags. The company has 10 million of these pallets in circulation around the world. While the RFID-equipped pallets provide valuable supply chain data for iGPS' customers, it also allows the company to maintain tight control over its inventory.
