Fleet operators usually deploy GPS-based tracking solutions to improve dispatching or optimize vehicle routing. In those cases, the return on investment for the solution comes through reducing fuel costs or increasing the number of
stops each vehicle or technician can make per day.
But, there's another benefit to real-time fleet tracking that isn't always top of mind: security. Acres Group, an Illinois-based landscape company, deployed such a solution to help prevent thieves from taking the company's trucks and trailers in order to steal the maintenance equipment stored
inside. Within a few months, Acres was able to recover $30,000 worth of stolen assets, while reducing fuel costs and driver speeding, to boot.
