Increasingly complex assets require extended expertise to be used and maintained. Disruptive technologies like IoT and AR can support preventive maintenance and other activities must undertake to ensure 100% asset uptime. Data constantly is being sent by each asset and analyzed to understand whether a specific value or performance threshold is being met — triggering maintenance or another activity based on preconfigured values. Functioning as intended, this occurs in less time and with less effort expended than traditionally conducted field service activities.

Priorities will differ for each organization: what starts as an initiative to overcome distance barriers and to ensure 100-percent service continuity may morph into an effort to improve worker safety in the field.
