DT Research Unveils Handheld POS Devices Specialized For Quick Customer Service

The WebDT 400 series of devices offers the ultimate usability in a handheld Point-of-Service solution with a 4.3-inch display – the largest screen size of any handheld POS device in the market today. These are the first handheld devices to include a fully-integrated MSR, RFID and/or barcode scanner. The WebDT 400 devices can help companies ‘do more with less' by improving customer service with fewer employees and reduce costs by streamlining business processes.

The WebDT 400 series offers the only handheld POS devices that include built-in remote management software. The WebDT Device Manager simplifies the management of multiple devices, especially useful for large deployments, such as in retail, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment.

Customers can choose from two models of the WebDT Point-of-Service Handheld:

WebDT 430 - The WebDT 430 features a 4.3-inch LCD touch screen with an outdoor-viewable display and a virtual keyboard – the largest screen size of any handheld device on the market. The large high-resolution screen significantly improves touch accuracy and usability in any environment.

WebDT 435 – The WebDT 435 features a 3.5-inch, high-resolution, outdoor-viewable LCD touch display with a physical numeric keypad.

Both models feature hot-swappable batteries that support up to eight hours of use. Other features include programmable buttons, wireless networking and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as vibrating alert capability for paging and communication.

Entertainment – Sporting or live music venues benefit from streamlining audience entry at concerts and sporting events using the WebDT 400 series.The integrated 1D or 2D barcode scanner or RFID reader allows for efficient scanning of tickets – whether from a paper ticket or mobile phone display.

Hotels & Casinos – The WebDT 400 series allows hotels and casinos to register guests from anywhere on the property – reducing wait time for customers. In addition, service staff can quickly process drink and food orders – whether on the casino floor or poolside.

Restaurants & Quick-Service – Restaurants and fast-food chains can offer faster service through table-side or curb-side order taking using the WebDT Point-of-Service Handheld. This provides reduced wait-time for customers by having orders transmitted directly from the table to the kitchen. Using the integrated MSR, restaurants can also easily process table-side or curb-side payments. Kitchen-to-floor communication is enhanced using the vibrating alert function, which signals staff when an order is ready.

Retail – The WebDT Handheld Point-of-Service device allows retailers to increase the quality of customer service by providing on-the-spot service from anywhere in the store. This includes immediate information access, checkout, payment processing away from the cash register and POS queue busting.

Warehousing – The integrated barcode scanner allows for convenient inventory management and reduced incidence of damage common to units with hardware add-ons. Using a wireless connection, data capture accuracy is improved by transmitting data directly from the warehouse into inventory systems.
