Dresser-Rand to Highlight Its Efficient, Reliable Solutions At The Turbomachinery & International Pump Users Symposia

Dresser-Rand President and CEO Vincent R. Volpe, Jr. to Deliver Keynote Address

Dresser-Rand, a global supplier of rotating equipment solutions to the oil, gas, petrochemical, power, and process industries, will showcase products and services that offer high efficiency and dependable performance for the energy infrastructure industry at this year’s 42nd Turbomachinery and 29th Pump Users Symposia.

Vincent R. Volpe Jr., Dresser-Rand's President and CEO, will kick off the Symposia with a welcome address on Tuesday, October 1, from 8:00-8:35 a.m. CST in the General Assembly Theater C, located on Level 3 of the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

Volpe, who has been with Dresser-Rand since 1981, has served as a member of the Company’s board of directors since October 2004. He has held a variety of positions in engineering, marketing and operations at the Company and has been the President and Chief Executive Officer since September 2000.

Industry engineers and executives visiting booth #737 will have the opportunity to learn more about the Company’s products, including Dresser-Rand’s DATUM® centrifugal compressor, Synchrony® magnetic bearings, single- and multi-stage steam turbines, Gimpel® valves, and its Envision® condition monitoring suite.

“All of our clients in the oil, gas and energy markets are looking for innovative ways to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of their rotating equipment,” said Harry Miller, Director of Emerging Technologies at Dresser-Rand. “We offer the right technologies to help clients meet their individual efficiency goals and requirements, whether it is through a steam turbine, magnetic bearings or controls suite. The products we are showcasing at this year’s Pump & Turbo Symposia are reliable options that allow clients to reduce energy consumption, use waste heat, lower emissions, and improve return on investments.”

Featured Dresser-Rand Products:

DATUM Centrifugal Compressors

Designed for maximum performance in all pressure and flow applications in the midstream and downstream oil and gas industries, the Dresser-Rand DATUM line of centrifugal compressors offer efficiency, reliability and ease of maintenance for gas gathering, liquid recovery, gas lift, gas injection, pipeline boosters, gas storage, recompression, and reinjection. It can also be used for wet gas, hydrogen, coker, and other hydrocarbon and utility gases for refining.

Synchrony Magnetic Bearings

Synchrony magnetic bearings bring a new, more reliable fault tolerant magnetic bearing technology to the marketplace. The use of magnetic bearings in rotating machinery means reduced process downtime, longer machine life, improved machine efficiency through use of high-speed motors, elimination of gears, and reduced maintenance costs. In addition, magnetic bearings reduce environmental footprint by eliminating ancillary equipment, including oil lubrication systems, and have been shown to help reduce energy consumption. By reducing bearing losses, eliminating gearbox losses and improving aerodynamic efficiency, improvements in energy efficiency greater than 10 percent can often be achieved in rotating machinery.

Multi-stage Turbines

Multi-stage steam turbines provide a variety of mechanical and power drive solutions for many industries. Designed to drive generators for independent power plants, compressors, and other mechanical equipment for industrial processing and institutional power plants, the turbines offer proven reliability and high efficiency. Available in a number of versatile design configurations, these steam turbines are ideal drivers for process compressors, centrifugal pumps, fans and blowers used in food processing, ethanol, waste-to-energy, petroleum, petrochemical, paper, institutional, biomass and other industries.

Single-stage Steam Turbines

These single-stage steam workhorse turbines are cost-effective, easy to install, come in a variety of sizes and configurations to meet client specifications, require minimum maintenance, and are designed for extremely high inlet pressures and temperatures, as well as high exhaust pressures.

With a variety of model designs to choose from, Dresser-Rand steam turbines meet the strict standards of API 611 and 612 and provide efficient generator drive solutions from 500 kW to 4,500 kW.

Gimpel Valves

Gimpel valves provide reliable emergency shutdown for multi-stage steam turbine protection. Gimpel safety valves, including trip, trip and throttle and non-return valves, are calibrated to provide state-of-the-art protection and shutdown control. Single- or multiple-control valves are available, depending on the power output of the turbine as well as mechanical latch-type trip throttle valves and hydraulic-operated trip and trip throttle valves.

Envision Software

Envision Condition Monitoring software allows for process control and condition monitoring within a single computer platform. Unlike traditional systems that use separate control and monitoring displays, the Envision system combines these primary functions to allow for unprecedented insight into a unit's performance and mechanical health. Aside from the diagnostic advantages, the Envision suite prolongs the life of oil and gas machinery and reduces life cycle costs by keeping the equipment well-maintained and constantly monitored.
