In the world of M2M there is a concern among users, "How can we know that the product will work as specified?" If the equipment uses radio communications, the answer lies in one word: certification.

Since most M2M applications do rely on one or more radio frequency technologies, there are government regulations that get involved with one or more agencies certifying the performance of the equipment; the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) is the most obvious example of an agency.
